MY favorite videogames, in no particular order:

Outrun 2, just pop this game in and slide around, pure fun.

Panzer Dragoon Orta, IMO the best rail shooter ever made

Vanquish, best game this year IMO

Resident Evil 4/5 people like 4, I like 5 better

Rez, it never, ever gets old. headphones on, extra controller for vibrations, mind = blown.

Yakuza 1/2: this game make me want to go to tokyo and start beating up people in the street. shockingly overlooked as the best game sega ever made and possibly the best games ever. I fucking love Yakuza.

as far as fighting games go, i think the best of the best are vf5 (ft may very well be better, but i have to play it first), ggac, garou, st, kof98 and cvs2. honorable mentions include ngbc, arcana heart and vf2.

as far as other games go, i'm still creating my list. i could just list whatever ten games i'm most nostalgic for, except that today i recognize that many of them actually aren't very good (goldeneye and pretty much every rare game, for example).

but uh, i really like japanese arcade games in general and sega's stuff from 88-04. i can dig most genres though, with the only exceptions being mmo's and rhythm games.

    Final Fantasy VIII
    Final Fantasy X

It's actually quite hard to narrow it down to just 10, I could list 10 for each console Ive owned [IMG]

I'm so old school looking at these lists hahahaha; maybe nostalgia won't let me move on from my old school commodore 64 days.

Hhmmm, let's build a top ten.

    10. Diablo 2
    (so addictive)

    9. Fallout 2
(prefer it over 1 apart from that horrid bit at the beginning)

    8. Heroes of Might and Magic 3
(hard to play after 5 though, 6 is on the way and I've got my fingers crossed)

    7. Command & Conquer: Red Alert
(two factions just different enough to make it work, played this thing to death with and against my brother)

    6. Civilization 3
(2 was loads of fun but just too easy and 4 just feels strange to me, I've yet to try 5)

    5. Final Fantasy 5
(when I heard of the class-system of X-2 I could almost imagine lightning striking twice and then the game came out and it was like... well, that)

    4. Shining Force 1 & 2
(bought the megadrive collection for ps3 just for these two really, SoR 1-3, PS 1-4, Sonic 1-3, Vectorman 1 and 2 were just extras)

    3. Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution
(the game that showed me the beauty of fighting games)

    2. Uncharted 2
(the multiplayer came completely out of left field and blew me away and the game would've been practically perfect without it)

    1. Blood
(I've got it running on WinXP and still play this now and again, I even learned my way around the mapeditor to create levels to mess around with or shoot my friends to pieces in. Thank you Ken Silverman)

    ps.
Cool to see No One Lives Forever pop up in some lists. 90's Monolith games are among the greatest (Blood, NoLF, Shogo).

    pps.
I'd like to give an honorable mention to Oni.
