What will you be playing until the next VF?

Tekken's ghost characters worked out pretty well... I know a few people who can actually say the computer emulated their tactics, from pitbulling, turtling, and even baiting... Maybe SEGA could make an advanced version of that...

 

Lets not ask too much from Sega...

 

Ok, maybe they can just "mimic" it then...

 

You may have never heard of the Eliza program, but one of the points of it was to fool a would-be patient into thinking they were talking to a psychologist or Dr. It did simple pattern matches against questions and produced canned answers. It felt like a real conversation was going on, but the program really couldn't understand any of the questions

It would be extremely easy to do the same thing in the send a friend request mode, or in in-game chat. If you were fighting somebody online that you had never met, you simply couldn't tell.

If there response to your question looked funny, or poorly structured you would just think wow English must be their second language

 

He's right about the Tekken Ghosts, a lot of the times they'll just fight like plain 'ol opponents depending on the difficulty level but the higher ranking Ghosts definitely fight like the "owners." Didn't they have a A.I. edit feature in the original VF4 (I'll have to look back at my VF4EVO but I'm too lazy right now )

 

Yeah you could "train" an AI in VF4.

 

Yeah I am still training my AI in VF4,

right now it has learned a lot from my game: the AI cries and bitches after losing a game, and blames it squarely at lag!

Of course eliza is a little old school but that's it. The modern day approach could fool you online with simple text message exchanges. It would only need a small vocabulary for
instance:

pwned
LOL
brb
btw
roflmao
byatch
imho
imo
lag
you
me
i
win/lose
round
kiss me bum
kiss me arse
masher
off to COD4

All it would need to do is sprinkle a few of these words in at
the right time along with part of the original text message
and you wouldn't know the difference. Of course this only works
if you are playing someone online that you don't know, and you
don't have a headset. You could be fooled by 3rd or 4th generation AI.

 

They've had this for ages, and I used to spend a lot of time talking and messing with these types of things. My favorite was on AIM, a talking robot named Zola. Reading these conversations takes me back...

But really derails the topic. I'm sure another thread with this sort of thing would work...?

I'm going to keep playing Vanilla, sharpen my skills and try getting better on a stick. Valkyria Chronicles is great, trying to get Platinum on Sonic Unleashed (it really isn't that bad), gonna pick up Prince of Persia soon, and just kinda play what comes along.

I'm indifferent at the moment. If they never come out with "R" I couldn't care less, I am disappointed in Sega and would rather focus my energies in things I can actually influence~

I was thinking about starting playing Diablo 2 again but I won't do it because it's boring doing always the same thing.

I still do some Re5 sessions and I started playing the Hitman series again, waiting for Assassins Creed 2.
