Playing VFEvo, and VF3TB right now. Evo is great, as always, and feels like a better game than Vanilla 5. Granted, I prefer the FS system of throws, punishing, attack speeds, but I REALLY hated 5's zero-frames.

Trying to play 3 on my new dreamcast... It's fucking weird. Trying to play Taka, but negative frames on hit? Really slow and crappy ranged throws, and digging for information in the vault is hard as hell. Part of me really wants to figure out his "super armor" properties, but unless I get something better than the worst controller (after N64's), there would be no point (aside from the fact no one plays VF much less 3 here, unless I can halt my busy schedule and Renzo's).

I know the reason has been covered but would someone mind retelling why people were so fond of VF4:Evo? Don't get me wrong, I loved it, as I have loved all VFs, but it has been so long I just don't remember the differences. In fact, when I think back to when VF5 first came out, it felt very similar to VF4, but I know I've seen people mention multiple subtle differences. Please remind and enlighten me!

Haha, first of all you need to use stepping. Big size character can do the same speed as others is his advantage. Plus, 214214214 can make Taka immediately slide backward is another credit. His 3346P(not sure the commend) is 100 dmg CH! And you can 46P+K P in order to make opponent block and then 41236P+G instead. 4P+K knock down and do 336P near to opponent's body, he becomes BT after waking up position, and then you can rape him again in the air.

Play vf3tb on your computer and we can get some re learning matches in. [IMG]

I don't know exactly whether I prefer the older VF games. Never played VF5. I have very good memories from the time I played VF2 in arcades. I played a bit on Saturn and so much on PC.

I still have the cd for PC but it seems it only worked in Windows 98.

    1) Evo/FT Goh and Akira are my favorite versions of these characters.
    2) As stated before, no Zero-frames and (while I didn't hate as much as others) no throw clash
    3) Combos aren't as ugly (I hate bounces, I've stated such many times long ago)
    4) Something about the camera and how it moves. So much easier to punish failed evades (for me, dunno why).
    5) It's on PS2, which I got for free from my coworker, and I don't own a PS3.
    6) I like the shorter moveslists, fewer stances, and while it isn't my favorite game for playing Jeffery (in terms of options), it doesn't have anywhere as many hitbox issues as 5 vanilla (in my experience).
    7) Brad isn't a character. I like that.
    8) Inputs are harder to buffer. Good to practice that dexterity.
    etc.

While I'd prefer to play FT, I don't have a cab, and I don't have a computer capable of emulation (not that I'd now how to anyway).

Durr, of course I'm using the step button. Evade feels like 8-way run in SCII it's pretty good.

Also, inputs will be difficult with, as mentioned before, the shitty dreamcast controller. It's impossible to replicate combos that I've seen, and pretty much only doing simple shit like 66PPP>4K/3K.

Taka didn't have "super armor" per se, as he was still interrupted like any other character, however he wasnt knocked down by 'weaker' knockdowns. This is more what the opponent has to take into account rather than something that the Taka player can abuse.

Virtua Fighter 3 will be my favorite Virtua Fighter always and forever. It was the first one where I really began to understand the series. I can play VF3 like I play Super Turbo, just anytime and anywhere.

VF5 is my favorite after 3. I prefer the feel of it compared to all of the other VF games, especially the movement. I didn't care for movement in VF4 at all because I felt too restricted unless I was using Lei Fei.

A perfect game for me would be a VF5 esque game with a VF3 style evade button. Probably never gonna happen though.

I've actually been playing Evo again lately. I really do miss the quest mode on there. I'm having an easier time doing the challenges now that I'm older and understand how to do them lol.

I sometimes still play the 32X port of the original Virtua Fighter, and the PC version of Virtua Fighter 2.

I was a big fan of VF2 when it first hit arcades. Game was amazing.

I never got to play VF3 in the arcade, I got to play a tiny bit of the Dreamcast port once, but I'd like to revisit it sometime.

Also 10th Annivesary Mode in Evo is gdlk, I wish they'd do something like that again for VF5, but use VF2 style models.

you can always revisit the DC VF3tb port through an emulator called Demul. runs it so nicely.

I'll give it a try, I used that emulator once a long time ago to play The Rumble Fish and Hokuto no Ken. A friend of mine just IM'ed me awhile ago telling me that a new update supports The Rumble Fish 2, which I am playing right now on it

I forgot the emu supports Naomi arcade games on top of Atmoiswave, and I see VF4 Final Tuned on the list... time for me to do some hunting lol. I'd really like to check out VF3 more though.

yeah, FT has some slowdown on various stages but otherwise runs pretty amazing.

VF3 TB runs super smooth. if you're ever up for trying to get back into the game through online versus, let me know. Demul supports Kaillera.

Man Kaillera, I haven't used that since GGPO/Supercade came out. Some online old school VF would be great.

hold on....VF3TB runs nice now?! last time i tried it it had so many background glitches. does it look 100% like the console version now? anything missing? and online works too?!

wow..if this thing works, ill see you online GE!

Man VF3TB looks amazing, but well before my time ofc. A direction they punted on taking to make VF4 -- a game with more coherence but less innovation I guess.

Sal, TB is smoooooooth like butter. there are some odd renders every now and then but otherwise it is amazing, and the glitches that remain do not impact the game play at all. and yeah, the Kailerra client is integrated in an online build.

get it, load it and let's fight!!

Yeah, I only ever used it for MK some time ago so I can't speak to the netcode but I'd be willing to give it a shot.

  19. RunningWildVidya

Kaillera netcode can't be as bad as MK9 or KOF these days I'd hope lol.

I'm really hoping FS has some good netcode, I never owned a Xbox360, so I dunno what VF5 is like online with it.

Also, any fans of AM2's other fighting games? Fighting Vipers, etc.

I kinda dig that I can have all three running at the same time with no frame rate loss. now if only there was a quality M1 emulator.
