    I'm both gutted and furiously angered by the fucked up refereeing that's been on display. It has been the cause of much unneeded stress for me these past few days [​IMG]

    The "deliberate" hand ball that was adjudged against Harry Kewell was pure bullshit. There was no movement in his arm at all as he stood firm anticipating to deflect the incoming shot with his chest. But the resulting penalty and send off were two critical blows which have all but knocked Australia out of this competition. Progression to the next stage is still mathematically possible for us under two scenarios, with the more likely scenario requiring us to beat Serbia by 3 goals. This is not a realistic target to be chasing in a final match.

    As if to add insult to injury, today we see Fabiano score for Brasil using his hand, twice, to juggle the ball around a defender! Apparently, the higher ranked team you are, the more limbs you're allowed to use during the game.

    The other bullshit refereeing call was for the Italian dive in the box against New Zealand which, ultimately, denied the Kiwis what would have been the upset of the tournament. I'm absolutely sick of seeing Italian's being rewarded for blatant diving in this game. They did it against Australia in 2006 to advance to the quarter finals (and eventually win the bloody cup), and they've done it again to keep their group qualifier hopes alive.

    Yes, the Kaka send off was stupid, but not any less stupid as the send offs for Cahill, Klose and Kewell. I long to see the day when a world cup isn't marred by incompetent and utterly bad refereeing. Fucking pathetic.

    Like most passionate followers, I have a love/hate relationship with this game which can never, ever, be reconciled. [​IMG]

    They started off so well with the first set, but for the second set of games they've beem terrible.

    I would have liked to have seen Villa get sent off for slapping the Honduras defender, but oh well. I got some joy out of the fact that his penalty was absolute shit.

    Im not sure what Domenech has done to piss the players off, but the behaviour of the French players is unforgivable. You dont just say "I dont wanna play" when you get the chance to represent your country. After all that the others have done and paid to get the players to South Africa.

    Lets remember that its not the coach thats out on the field playing, its the players. Coach cant do anything if players dont listen to him. Mutiny of the players is what most certainly will sink France.

    Not sure i was Domenech. I think it was someone from the France Football Federation that ordered Anelka home.

    They all hate Domenech, but i get the feeling that most french people do.

    It was the first football match to be shown live in north Korea. I also hear that it was a pirated broadcast with black bars hiding the origin of the broadcast. I hear that a south Korea company owns all TV rights (I assume regarding world cup) in Korean peninsula and they didnt want to broadcast to north Korea. Unfortunately for North korea, match didnt go well. I hear their coach took the blame.

    France was lame, but at least they showed up to play.

    I'm really happy, and proud, of how Australia performed in their last game against Serbia. While there was still a mathematical possibility for the Aussies to progress, it required they make up the for opening 4 goals they conceded against Germany, and this was ultimately too much to ask for. Had Ghana beat Germany, however, then Australia would have been through. C'est la vie.

    Lots of lessons learnt for us at this World Cup, but it was both pleasing, and saddening, to see what we were capable of when we weren't handicapped by an unfair/bullshit red card decision. This last game was the first game we played and finished with 11 men on the park.

    At least now I can watch the rest of the World Cup stress free [​IMG]

    Assuming you're right now counting only teams from A-D, then yes, you have 6 out of 8. If you count the other groups, essentially, you've both got at least 8 so far. Brazil are pretty much guaranteed a spot and should Portugal lose, they're still going through because of that slightly massive goal difference advantage they have.

    Myke also has a 9th with the Netherlands as they are already through.

    I'm happy that England made it, although to be fair, they shouldn't have done.

    I really hope Japan wins tomorrow. If they do win, then Myke and I will have exactly the same number of teams correct since we both have the same picks for groups F,G, and H. Even a tie tomorrow with Denmark will send Japan through since they are ahead of Denmark right now due to the goal differential.
