Lol Shina Akira called me abare the first time we played. i died laughing. I told him I am not the one attacking from -11 all the time. he is a cool guy. I like his Brad. but he plays SC now, and he plays that the same too. lol

White worm. It's simple. if the ratio in which you use abare vs moral is higher with your abare tactics then you are an abare style player. and we all agree that attacking out of disadvantage is a defencive option. we can all respect that. it's just that after seeing a person always attack from the same disadvantage, always evade at the same disadvantage, always go, go, go when they're in close combat with there opponent, it becomes painfully clear that this person isn't thinking so deep as to defend but rather just keep there flow going will less respect for there moves and there opponents.

It's interesting how Vanessa goes directly from Abare to Machi, Moral not being an option.

    i absolutely agree

    everyone is being abare nowadays
    its the latest trend
no one blocks or defends at all...i hardly get any throws out
even if they keep eating combos they will never block or fall for mixups

i feel like im the only one stupid enough to think during matches and get penalized for it...

why do we conplian about abare? simple...we dont know how to stop it most of the time, thas why its succesful (for those saying that it beats them..) if its working why stop? adapt or die, simple. if you think its repetitive and boring (and it is) then stop playing the game cause this is just another valid tactic that we should overcome. whats a good player if he cant beat controlled (at times) randomness? not a good player, thats what.

remeber, comes tourney time..anyhting goes, might as well learn how to beat these types of players.

No Sal, it's the fact that you can pwn most of these abare players all day and still nothing changes.

Yah, it's true! I exaggerated a little though, can't help it.

Ofc abare is hard to stop when you're not a good player (my case), but it's even harder with a bit of lag. Even without big lag spikes, the little ping between the two players makes all flowcharts composed with fast moves extremely hard to punish or retaliate on block.

Imho it's a way of exploiting lag and that's why it's so trendy and efficient on XBL.

    Hell sometimes I can't even punish -17 or -18 moves with a 14f 66p... And I get a ch P in my face instead.

LOL again everyone shared your same experience. My connection was not ideal with the both of them either, so it was hard to punish things properly. DubC... *sigh* I don't know what to say about DubC so I'll say nothing. Between the 2 I'll take Shinn Akira any day. The connection wasn't that great, but the fucker put up a great fight. It's to bad he probably won't be back until R. I'm sure he still reads the boards, but online play for him is dead. I know he plans to play SF4 next as he sent me basically a "I will kill you" death threat a few days ago. I'm sure he will provide fun matches in that game too.

Ohhh noo, Konjou, i pm'ed him the other day and Shinn Akira asked that i let people know he will soon be back!!
(wether on not he comes back, perhaps is another question)

I only played Shinn Akira for one session over a year ago and I also had no clue about Brad, so you could imagine how that went. There was also this player named Vigaku, that me and gl0ry got frustrated about too, cause he wouldn't stop hitting buttons and his connection was awful.

Alot of these guys had some pretty bad connections and would not stop hitting buttons. For awhile, it had discouraged me from playing anyone online that had a less than stellar connection. At that point I stuck to only playing vs gl0ry and Lucky, with Denkai every now and then, this would also explain why alot of people hadn't gotten to play me because all I played was private matches vs them, with the best connection possible.

hehe I remember that time frame. You were not on my friends list during that time, but I had already heard about you and your skills. I wanted to play you back then, but could never find you like everyone else, plus I was suffering from a ranking match addiction so that didn't help... LOL Glad you decided to open again! I'm having tons of fun with our matches.

Do you mind if I inviting you again?? I think our connection is acceptable and I also realize how frustrated with laggy games..
I can't stop thinking of your pretty Sara since the last time!!!

All I can say is Konjou you think too much~~^^

I only played with DubC online maybe for one or two matches, but we had about over 20 matches at Socal last year. I could tell he did work a lot on Akira and I also could feel his ambition. Yes, he really enjoyed his tempo without thinking, just like autopilot. I didn't seem to have that trouble as you coz Akira are pretty linear, on the other hand, 80% of Duc's attack you can evade or throw escapes. Most people really focused on you guys matches on Socal and that's why you couldn't work on the positive way maybe you were nervous, but DubC was pretty confident on contrast. I think that's why you felt you had a hard time with him on Socal. I also checked the matches between DubC and DRE, and DRE was like crazy for every round!!!^^ DRE didn't have that trouble either.

I also have hard time with abare players but I never complain about them. There is no rules for playing vf, but you do have the efficient way to play~~

I remember when I started to play VF one year ago, I played only ranking matches at the time. I was like 2Nd or 3rd dan maybe and I met JHow77 in a pure laggy game. My char was Brad and I didn't know what I was doing most of the time, I didn't know game mechanics, moves properties, etc... And I was just bullrushing the old drunk men with fast moves and 6p's (with maybe some slipping, can't remember if I mastered slipping and ducking haha) and I pummeled the poor Shun.
I'm pretty sure if I'd play JHow77 offline today I'd barely win 1 out of 10 fights.
And now, I know what he must have felt...
Fought that Raginglion something wolf player yesterday, 9th dan in a bullet-time fight where 2p*3 was a combo.
The dude only done 2p, DM PK and 3P+K and I could not react. Now way to do a friggin move... and I got beaten by this pure scrub.

That's the power of abaring in lag situations...

Since no tutorials in VF5 console version -> no tutorials for throwescaping -> no throwescapes -> people low punch to avoid being thrown

I say bring on your abare all day long! I love finding ways around it, no matter the character. Maybe it's just the way I play Shun but I feel like he is an abare destroyer.

In extreme lag situations the only abare I find that works is the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif based combos (pppk etc)any other move is so slow that they won't hit anything. I am sure many people take full advantage of that when they face good people knowing they won't be punished so bad. It is shame when people don't want to play a fair fight.

And this comes from a master level shun player, shun is one of the few people that has a move set that can actually do this consistently when he is played properly regardless his foe.
