If you're talking about CraftierNut or something like that, you're not missing anything. He's an akira player, but he plays with this weird pattern that I guess works on some of his online matches. Pretty easy to figure out though.

Like 80% of online players he doesn't really play, I.e. he just a very effective set of patterns--err pattern singular, that he does for 3-5 straight rounds. It's pretty tough if you only play him rarely, but easily beatable because it's a one trick pony. However, he seems to only play 1 game at a time rather than giving a rematch :/

Just like all those goh players who have ranked up to a high level doing 75% 3PP. I really feel sorry for these guys, they obviously really care about winning and ranking up, but ultimately they are just capping their potential. You can only progress so far spamming your a usable online moves. To the point that your rank becames inflated over your skill. But again, they will never get anywhere near approaching elite status.

What is with the excessive vitriol towards ranked dodgers? If someone gets bested in a 2/3 set or gets utterly molested, then there's no point in playing that person again, they're clearly the superior player. Unless there's a dearth of players on at the moment, why would anyone want to play the same person in a lot of games in the same session? Playing a far better player is a waste of time because its hard to learn anything if one is overwhelmed and such matches aren't any fun.

If someone dodges after only 1 decent game, then mentioning them here is fine, but I'm pretty sure a lot of the dodgers being listed here were bested in a set or was shown to be a vastly inferior player in one match. If anything, the true cowards are the players that repeatedly challenge a player that they're clearly better than, even after the challenge was rejected.

It's because the rank dodgers being referred to aren't 10th dans, they're HIGH rank players. Is it not comical that a avenger would dodge a warrior or w/e?

In most case scenarios, the rank dodger is either a puller, a rank farmer, or lag switches and the only ones talked about here are the high rank ones - nobody cares if a 10th dan is not going to challenge again. These rank dodgers deserve to be ridiculed.

Do people still care about rank? Why?

To add to what Kamais said, there's also the fact that it usually happens when there's NOBODY else around. These people will just keep dodging for 5 minutes straight if they have to. Ranked doesn't matter, but these people certainly take it to heart for some dumb reason.

Would people be complaining if there was a greater number of players? When SFIV first came around, the bulk of gamers would be found in player match, or at least enough in both that you could always get a game. The only reason I'm in VF5 ranked is because that's where everyone is - the unranked is usually dead as a dodo. I'd rather play unranked so that if I have an enjoyable opponent (win or lose) the facility is there for a quick rematch.

JCBlack333, bad games for RAGEQUITTING on me. Trying to do the same stupid move over and over will not make you any better, and neither will quitting when I'm up two rounds.

This is an interesting post. There is some validity to this.

I should feel really shitty about losing to Craftier repeatedly then. I clearly don't have the Akira matchup down. That said, he's always been willing to replay me multiple times in a row and while I still lose most of them, I've learned something new each time.

He won't play you if he knows you can beat him.

He only seems to play as lei fei against me, and he was very very pattern confined, once I figured out a counter pattern, I literally used it effectively 3 full matches before he did something else. But he DID start to switch it up towards the end.

Credited, this is the only reason I play ranked in this game. I generally hate ranked matches because status and points turn ranked matches in most games to a quit fest. It sucks too, because I'd like to practice with potential alts in a more laid back environment.

Bad games to xx Rommil xx. This kid is a comic and a quitter. The first time he pulled from our ranked match he tried to play it off as if he was disconnected. The second time we played ranked (on a different day, mind you) he pulled as soon as I was up two rounds (he was only up one).

    Keep on pullin' kiddo... ;)

Bad games to a lot of folks who wont either play me cause of my rank or whatever. I lose a lot to folks. Who gives a shit? Its about getting better. I would never play rank if folks in ranked if more folks would do player match lobbies. People put in work to get better there instead of protecting egos and ranks.

He might be teliin the truth. Ive played him a good handfull and won 90% of the time and he's never pulled. Sometimes them disconnects do happen, at bad times too.

Call me cynical, but disconnecting precisely as I take the lead? And without a single hiccup in the connection prior to the disconnect?

I'm finding it real hard to believe.

If it happens more than once I agree, but if its in the middle of the match usually its a accident. Like Feauch said it happens.
