Awesome thread ShinobiFist! This is cool as hell.

Ladon was a name I came up with before I knew it actually existed. As a kid I was reading an old Nintendo Power magazine and was awe-struck at the preview for the game Breath of Fire. I read it over and over, dreamed about playing it, and when I noticed that the main character didn't have a name (he didn't go by Ryu at the time), I decided to give him one. I mixed the letters from "Light Dragon" (the article stated that he was the last one) and I got Ladon.

I didn't go by the name often though, at least not until I played Breath of Fire 3, where the name Ladon actually appears as one of the elder dragon spirits in the game. I did more research and found that Ladon is the name of a hundred-headed dragon in Greek mythology.

KoD_Ladon came from Ladon being taken, and I thought to throw "King of Dragons" in front of it. Our own KoD wasn't very active in the forums during that time... so it was funny when he came back and saw the two of us fused as one, lol.

I played a lot of poker, was born in '75, and wore a suit to work. It was also around the time the world was finding out the value of playing suited connectors in a hand with many people in it.

Oh, and it was one of the few new AIM screen names that I could get that didn't have to have a ton of numbers after it. (Oh no, I've said too much...) Then VF5 came out and I didn't want to have a video-game-specific name.

    This thread is really interesting.

I'm pretty sure my post will be long one. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

I was playing Gundam games in arcade before I start to play VF. And that time, my name was Neal River. I forgot this name came from, anyway this is it.

And I started to play VF4FT in arcade.

First time, I didnt even know how to make RN(ring name). you have to pay to SEGA and then you can make RN, PR or custmize charas that's how to make personal setteing.

We figured out how to make it, but we thought 'What?! We have to pay money?! What the F...' like that. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

So we share account and save our money with my friends.

Then we made name 'Sky Neal'. Sky is from my friend, Neal is from me.

And we changed that name once, because we got alot of money, so we didnt need share account no longer.

And my friend took 'Sky' I took 'Neal'. So my name was Ocean Neal. lol Because Sky and Ocean. haha. What a cheap name. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

One day, one of my VF-friend called me Fu-unji.

Fu-unji is usually use to kid who has something incredible.

And I was looking for awesome ring name. So that name made me excited. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif Plus, I was just 15 or 16 at that time. yeah, I was just kid! (I know I'm still)

and now I'm keep using Fu-unji name. And alot of good JP players know Fu-unji name, so I don't think I will change this name.

Huh? None Other? I dont know it, it's my friend's. lol

What? Fallen_angel? Oh, I like something dark. like death...hmm reaper in English?

Oh my favorite anime is Higurashi no nakukoroni(ひぐらしの鳴く頃に) or When the cicada cry (English title) Check this anime if you have time. I always wanna join that kind of world. hehhe

Sorry about my imperfect English and long post.

Eh, I just made up b1tchm4de because I thought it looked funny when I typed it out.

As for Rare Entity, it was just some meaningless name I came up with because all the other names I came up with were already taken.
Funny thing is whenever some tard plays against me and starts talking shit they will usually pronounce my name "Rare Entry".

    BTW, nice avatar Monkeypunch.

(NobiyukiBB) I usually play Akira Yuki, and I got the name from Nobbi in the last season of Australian BigBrother, whose full name was Nobiyuki (even Myke found that out).

I'm Thinking of changing my username to CobiyukiOS. Cobi (my avatar), sounds more similar to my real name, the Mascot of the Olympics closest to my birthday. I'm still playing Akira, and Otama Sanshiro is my usual username. And I've got to fit it in ten letters.

My nickname comes from two SNK sources. The Kaiser part comes from Krauser's Kaiser Wave DM, as I always loved that character, and thought that the word Kaiser was pretty cool. As for the Ash, I was looking for a name that would go well with it, and after trying a few different ones, I was playing KOF2003 and the main character's name seemed to fit really well with Kaiser, so I used it.

  14. Vortigar

    Vortigar Well-Known Member

I created the name Vortigar about ten years ago by combining random cyllabils (spelling?). It was originally created as the name for the commissar in my Warhammer 40.000 army. It kinda stuck and I've been using it as a name in games ever since.

Later on I also found that (according to legend) the king who ruled England before Uther Pendragon was called Vortigern. He was known as a cold hearted bastard but was also viciously intelligent and a pagan of course (so he could be killed off without a hitch by a god-fearing man, these late medival tales are so obvious). He's (excellently) portrayed in the fantasy film Merlin by Rutger Hauer, which is a nice nod to the great Dutch actor through vague reference as well.

Vortigern hardly ever appears in any Arthur themed movies, though I think his name was dropped somewhere along the way in that King Arthur of 2004 with Keira Knightley as Guineverre the warrior woman.

There used to be a time (some eight years ago) when you could google Vortigar and all 500 hits you got were of me. But the name has been used by others since, so I've lost that one. Maybe I should start calling myself The Orginal or something.

I had to pick a character name for Everquest a long time ago. The name I wanted wouldn't work so I tried a character from the movie Snatch. Avi. I spelled it differently though, I obviously had to americanize it a bit.

So Auvii it was and it stuck with me every since.

pronounced ah-vee, people have a very hard time with its pronunciation.

I started with the very unimagnitave SMB is me. SMB are my intials, and it rhymed.

Wasted Wish, i thought sounded cool. Its really a take off of Gallop Racer, a fun little horse racing game to the ps2. It had some cool sounding names for the special horses you could unlock. Regal Ruin, Royal Opera, etc...and you could breed horses and name them. it was my bro i think-coudla been me, who was breeding the perfect horse and was going to name it Wasted Wish. I thought it was a nice sounding name, so there you go. I actually have a better name for a really good lei fei hidden in my back pocket, and will switch some day. but for now, i gotta get me 12.50's worth outta my name change.

Well, one day, while surfing the vast "internetz"...A certain pop-up about a "Goth Name" caught my attention...

So, I followed the link to some random site w/ a Gothic theme and the page had me put in my real name and it would generate what my "Gothic Name" is...

The result, "Lucid Nightmare"...I was surprised, I got a really unique name, which the meaning of is pretty much the inverse of a Lucid Dream(A dream in which one is aware of and controlling their actions)...Funnily enough, throughout my life I've had countless "Lucid Nightmares", so the name stuck with me-I love it. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Oioron is the translated version of my name Monty into Quenya.

Quenya is one of the Elvish dialects from Middle Earth. Someone who actually knows the language did the translation for me.

It's not Orion, it's Oioron. Phonetically, it would be O-yo-ron. Once again, Oioron != Orion.

Rodnutz came from my best friend who lives in Omaha Nebraska. He is one of those types of people who has to refer to his friends by a nick name. I used to play a lot of Street Fighter back in those days and people used to always say I have a very weird/crazy/nutty style. Plus my personality was kind of nutty back then as well and a lot of my friends and the girls I used to talk to would constantly say things like "your nuts" out loud in front of my best friend. Rodnutz was born shortly after. Now every time I visit the big O' or my friends from there call me on the phone, I am always referred to as Nutz or Rodnutz. It's very rare they call me Rod or Rodney.

As for Konjou Akira, well long story short... I used to go by the name Omaha Jeffry back in days. I was a die hard Jeffry player and still has much love for the big guy. During the time when we did the NYG gathering that Kyasao, Shinjuku Jacky, SHU and others attended. I decided I wanted to drop my current name since by this time I had long put Jeffry behind me and moved on to Akira. The title Konjou(which translates into guts, courage) was actually given to me by my teacher and the teacher to pretty much all of NYC's players during a smoke break with him and Kyasao which I attended. My teacher was Tadahiro Oh a.k.a Hiro! He consulted with Kyasao for approval based on his impression about my style. He thought the name suited my kind of weird bulldog-ish style just fine and over all it sounded cool. From that moment on I was known as Konjou Akira.

To add humor to the whole name thing, during the last few days of the event I was going by my new name, but since we made T-shirts made for the event which everyone wore, mines still had my old Omaha Jeffry name on it. hahahaha so I am calling myself Konjou but my shirt says Omaha Jeffry. Even more humorous and completely coincidental, long time rival AdamYUKI only played Akira while I only played Jeffry. I just find it amusing how the balls are bouncing on opposite sides of the course now. Unfortunately for me he still holds the winning torch. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif Hopefully I can catch him one day.
