Your Name, explain yo'self.

My name is the word death, combined with the word sushi.

 

It's cool to hear explanations and pronunciations. Helps me think of names more than avatars haha.

Despite trying to be original in a lot of things I do, I kind of stole my name from a DJ I saw on the TV radio back when we first got dish lol. His name was Crisgin I believe. And I was like haha that's dope, that's my name, only with less letters and a different spelling. So I tried to spin it into a shorter version that I thought looked cool.

Yes, I liked Jin from Tekken when I use to play it but that's not the real reason I used it. I just rolled with it cause of its literal JP meaning and thought it kind of went well with the Krs. I do like KRS-One as well but it's not the sole reason I chose that either. I like the three letters, and I was trying to be as different from this DJ as I could at the time. But have to admit, I do love what KRS stands for in KRS-One's name, which is "Knowledge Reigns Supreme." So I mashed em together and got KrsJin.

 

That's actually a pretty good name, Krs. I always thought you were religious, and it was meant to be read outloud, as "Christian".

Anyway, "Sorias"... is literally just something I invented since it reads okay, and I all my other names got stolen by other people over the years.

I actually used to use "Neo", before the Matrix came out... that killed that name off rather quickly.

More recently, I went by "Claytus" on a lot of boards, which actually has a pretty good story, though it's a bit childish. Back when I was, like, 12, I had a good friend named Chris (still do, actually...). He's really a brilliant guy (and a much better VF player than I am), but one of those people that tends to think things through very slowly, doesn't get jokes the first time around, and so on. I no longer remember what prompted this, but one time he said something extremely ridiculous while we were sitting with a big group of friends, so I responded with some comment like "That was so stupid, I'm going to call you Stupis from now on.". And he immediately shoots back "Well, oh yeah... then I'm gonna call you Claytis." And everyone stares at him, and I say "Wait, your response to me combining your name with the word stupid... is to combine your name and my name together?", at which point he hung his head in shame, and laughter burst out all round.

A few years later, he got into playing FFXI, and he invited me to join that game with him, and as a joke, I named my character Claytus in reference to that old conversation, which he fortunately thought was hilarious. At that point, I thought I'd be using Claytus forever... but recently I've discovered there are two issues with it. 1) Everyone thinks it's a reference to Cletus, from the simpsons. 2) It somehow got really popular... seriously, do a WoW armory search for the name, I don't know where everyone else got it from, but it just wasn't unique enough to stick with;;

At the turn of the century (heh), I was trying to come up with a Q3 screen name that described this decaying flesh gargoyle and "Plague" fit really well. The event that validated my name choice happened during a clan practice session a few months later. One of the guys consistently facing the business end of my rocket launcher suddenly types "God DAMN it, Plague! Every time I see you... I DIE!"

Excellent.

AkiraZero: Basically, Akira was the first character I wanted to learn since being introduced to VF. Then I put the word zero after his name and I liked how it sounded together. Thus AZ was born.

OhNoYouDidnt VF: I was chatting with KingOfCarnage on the shoutbox one day, however I was so bored (I was at work) so I felt like being silly. IIRC, he was talking about thinking of changing his username so me, being completely random, thought of some different silly GT's. One was YouJustGotKnockedTheFukOut. Carnage told me it was too long for a GT so another one came to mind which is the one I use now.

 

Isn't it part of the chorus of "Pretty Fly for a White Guy" by The Offspring?

That, or they were also referencing something else that I'm not aware of. It seems like an odd choice for you if that's the actual answer.

KiwE (ki-vay, not ki-we) isn't that dramatic. When I was in 4th or 5th grade there came a time when I was called Kiwi cause I hated Kiwi fruits (I still do) as a nick. It later developed and stuck to Kiwe which friends / family also call me. At first I had different nicks at sites like quake nicks or even narutard nicks like Kakashi etc but then I just went with what everyone calls me.

I miss Q3 days.

 

My nick is a combination of my actual middle name (Nikolas) plus Belmont, which, of course, is derived from the Castlevania series, particularly from Super Castlevania (IV), which imo is, to this date, the best Castlevania game ever.
