They actually keep making the game worse and worse every new iteration, that's hard to do!

Gee I know, lets make 100% life combos! Makes the whole game just suck cause it just boils down to who can juggle who first, one time and win.

^EXACTLY^

It makes the game lame. It's totally unsafe to attack so players just dance around the whole time. If you have combos like that it ruins the game. The risk/reward ratio ends up being way out of whack.

I hope you people realize you're making yourselves look like fools?

Basically, you do what people do with VF on Tekken boards, talk shit with little knowledge behind, and I bet reading similar talk about VF there would annoy the shit out of you.

I think people should be veeeery careful to say things like "VF is harder to play then Tekken" or similar shallow comments. The truth is that it takes insane amounts of skill to reach top level in both games.

Yeah, but we're objective: we play VF.

I agree and I kept my comments to personal stuff about some elements of Tekken that have little to do with game play, as I'm far from an expert.
All in all, we were asked for our opinion, not "your objective assessment of tekken as people who know well both games but play mainly VF and/or post mainly on VFDC".

But honestly, when that video of T6 was posted, I could NOT help the feeling that the game, compared to VF, looks and feels somehow... what can I say... "wrong"? I guess it's just a different game aiming at a different audience and offering different things. But I never felt that sort of "OMG turn that off NOW!" when looking at a DoA or SC video...

I've always loved Tekken, and the truth does hurt sometimes, but that vid was still very funny. lol

I'm a pro Tekken player and have been since T1. I don't mind the
trash talk between these 2 3D fighter giants---it was going to happen
as any competition between 2 well know giants does....

I will agree though, as much as I love Tekken, that the stupid characters
need to go...(Bears, Combot, Mokujin, Kangaroos, ect.) Tekken actually
has somewhat of a story behind it with all the goings on between all
the Mishimas/Kazamas so I'm always interested in that. And I do
very much like the character designs. One of the reasons I like
Kage so much in VF is because Yoshimitsu and him are so much alike
that is why they both are some of my favorite fighters for each
game. (minus sword)

I also agree WHOLE-HEARTEDLY about the frikkin LAME-ass 85-100%
damage combos that are in nearly EVERY Tekken. I mean c'mon, it's
T6 for crying out loud and NAMCO still thinks this kind of gameplay
is for competitive players? Not.

I love VF just as much but for me, it's always been that one fighter
that escapes me in 'dominating' because I've still yet to fully
embrace the timing that is different from Tekken to VF. I think
both series have great characters and the only gripe I have with
VF currently is that my PS3 version was shafted the online, is
frikkin Ver.B, has only 1/4th the custom options as arcade, and
I cannot STAND Jeffry McWild---I think out of all characters that
they could get rid of---it should've been him instead of the sumo
wrestler.

Oh yeah, WTF is wrong with SEGA getting the worst voice actors
for this game every time? And with the worst round entrance and
victory quotes ever?

Dude, yeah---that's been bugging me big time as of the last couple
days. I've only had VF5 for like a week now and every time a match
starts, I'm wishing there were the subtitles at the bottom. LoL, D'oh! That, and I'm already wishing for VF5:R to hurry up stateside. Argh.

What do you think will happen, if Tekken 6 is broken, when Evo comes around?

While you are right it does take considerable skill to reach top level in both games and those who have done so deserve respect.
The fact that Tekken has each limb mapped to one of the face button on the controller makes it easier for noobs to pick up any character and it get some constructive button mashing done.

In that respect Tekken is easier to get into. I say this because I have lost 1000s of matches in both games :)

I'm still of the opinion that T4 was the best Tekken, sans the character balance problems and few stage glitches that allowed for infinite combos...

Besides that, the execution in general was a step in the right direction for the series, but poorly executed...

The game took the focus off of the insanely long combos and put the focus on up close combat, ala VF, all the while including the most fluid movement system in any Tekken game ever(Yet, it still doesn't beat 8-way run...)...and the stage design itself was very creative...

Too bad, the ideas and system from that game weren't followed up, else VF would really have something to look out for. lol

Thats just it man. Tekken players didn't like 4 because it wasn't like Tekken. I know it seems odd, but the people who play Tekken like it because they actually like the massive combos and emphasis on whiff punishment and such. Thats why I'll play both; I enjoy either playing style, however broke one may be.
