Just don't make other people miserable by trying to force uninterested party to see your way

Good point. Why don't you pay attention to it?

If that post made you miserable, then I highly recommend you not read any more posts on this site.

I think you're missing the point...women with intelligence making
their own decision to get into the game is what we're talking
about...besides that, we're talking about WOMEN and not GIRLS,
which is where the NSync fandom applies, mostly I think. If I show
a woman something I dig, like a Jack Kirby cover or 1968's NIGHT OF
THE LIVING DEAD, and she smiles to indulge me but isn't particularly
interested, I understand. If she shows me the rubber stamps she's
meticulously carved, then I admit their coolness even if I'm not particularly
interested in that. But neither one of us will argue they HAVE to dig these
things; as far as VF is concerned, this woman didn't stick with the game
and maintain fascination as I have...frankly, she'd rather be coasting
through eBay. But that's her. This idea of women being culturally
    removed from fighting games is wrong-headed but understandable;
fact is, women aren't going to be exposed to what I find cool unless I
expose them to it...but you don't ever force anything on anybody.
It's like that scene in Tarantino's TRUE ROMANCE when the young
guy offers this little hooker he just met (and realizes is his soul mate or
whatever) to come with him to a Sonny Chiba triple feature. She doesn't know Sonny Chiba
from apple butter, but she goes and flips for Chiba. Genuine love, solidifying
her geek status and making her human to this guy. Whether or not she flipped
for Chiba wouldn't impact the guy, but because she does a connection IS
made. I think there's a whole lot of geeky shit that women would be interested
in, if exposed. Just like there's a whole lot of good food, eg, I'd never try if not for
the women in my life. Everybody wants somebody to turn to and say, "Damn that
was so f'ing cool," and have them agree. When it's a woman, it's almost better
verification than when she says you're a handsome devil...you are as long
as she thinks so, even if you really look like Ernest Borgnine.

Okay guys Myke the Man cut off the thread and moved to the General board. And Myke summed it up pretty well, and as he said, I was jumping on the thread that was being derailed from the original topic. But in the process I derailed it further. Myke said it was understandable but I am sure he didn't approve.

I would have to stand by my personal opinions, but at the same time I would have to extend my apology to Myke and Zero. (Myke asks to continue on the general board if anyone wishes to do so, and I will stop posting on this thread. Sorry again.)

    Hey Zero-chan,
Thanks for the reports. I hope you can give us more info on Brad and Goh combos/etc since there hasn't been much info. Luckily I've been able to play some Evo over here, but it's hard trying to figure out stuff since I'm still learning the moves. I figure you'll see a lot of cool techniques at some point.

Anyway, enough about Evo. More importantly, have you played SpikeOut yet!? /versus/images/icons/wink.gif

I found one arcade with Spikeout, unfortunately it's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay far away. I had to get there by car wth my teammates. Didn't get a chance to play either. (._.)

OK, a question for anyone who is also currently using VF.net in Japan:

Today when I was playing, after I won my match, above my little card icon a little animated Usagi-san sprite come crawling onto the screen. After squealing at the insane cuteness, a little UFO sprite flew over and zapped him, and he vanished.

I won the second match, and Usagi popped up again, this time walking out to suddenly vanish in a puff of smoke.

Third round I lost. At the end of the fight, Usagi once again appears above my card icon, waving as if to say good-bye.

I asked my teammate what the heck that was about. I didn't quite understand the explanation (damn my crappy Japanese), but from what I can infer, it seems like Usagi appearing indicated I had some sort of chance to get an item? Unfortunately I didn't seem to win anything. Perhaps GP or someone knows more about this?

There are a few of those icons. I don't know exactly what each one means, but some of them mean that the probability of a Prize-match occuring is raised. Could've been the UFO one, I can't recall. One friend of mine did like 10 in a row one time after seeing that icon. They generally mean stuff like that. No hard evidence either way though.

Isn't that a patch of cloth somebody stuck in front of the screen and then took a picture? Check out the bottom ... it's in front of the screen.

I know that in EVO, you can set messages (mapped to the buttons) that you can flash on the screen for your opponent to read before and after the fight.

I've seen Muscle Sarah flash messages to opponents who fought without using a card, telling them to "use a card next time".

Are you sure that those moving icons aren't a special type of message that you can set? (maybe won from a prize?)

I remember seeing mukki flashing a msg to Hakusion...saying ' LET ME SHOW U THE EXTREMENESS OF MY KUNG FU!!!!!'. /versus/images/icons/laugh.gif

(if mukki wins, he goes up a rank higher than Hakusion)

    And Mukki lost! /versus/images/icons/tongue.gif

You get 4 'chat messages' you can set. You activate them by [G] & up, down, left or right.

The thing before the game is your PR statement. It shows ALWAYS, no matter what, during 1P or 2P gameplay. For some odd reason, this feature is not available w/ J-Sky, nor was it during Ver. C.

The "Use a card next time" message is not uncommon at all. People don't use cards - they don't win items/fight money. Sucks.

I've only set two chat lines:
"Can we try it w/o the one-pattern style?" and
    "I don't look like Brad!"

    Usagi strikes back!

I have one indicating that I am a proud member of the Vanessa fan club. XD

Anyways, it happened again! I was playing against one of my teammates (using Aoi at the time), and lo and behold, Usagi starts to hop onto the screen over my card icon, for three matches in a row, with a different animation each time.

Some really, really random stuff started happening after his third and final appearance. First, the match versus the CPU I went into (before my opponent could challenge again) was playing VF2 Akira music! The next three battles I went into were all prize matches. I won two and lost the third, and then they stopped. I was hoping the VF2 music playing was an indicator that I could get it as an equippable item, but sadly, it was ot to be. Oh well... only 850 G to go before I can buy that knife!

There you go... I think there are a couple of different icons though. There's a UFO as well if I"m not mistaken.

Have you played any of the red, silver, or gold prize matches yet? I got one yesterday against a guy I know. I won (yeah!) and got 1000G & the greenish Kabuki Star. Not bad. I want to buy Aoi's glasses, but they're 20,000G. /versus/images/icons/frown.gif

One other tip for you if you want an item. Find a place where you can do stage select, and select one w/ breakable walls. Destroy as many walls as you can. Next match will be a prize match, and you'll get an item -- not fight money. It's generally the "wall item" so you can't just racking in different items. One per character I think.

    more questions

Maybe some of you can answer this ...

I went to Nishi-spo yesterday and noticed that there's a ball with green kanji floating above the characters' head. The kanji means "master". Any idea what this signifies?

I also saw Chibita, Segaru and 1st Angel (she's a real VF babe). They seem to always be there playing every night. I use to admire them for their dedication. But I'm starting to feel sad that they don't do anything else but VF.
