SAN FRANCISCO & LONDON - May 14, 2012 - SEGA® of America Inc. and SEGA® Europe Ltd. today announced that the console release date and retail price for Virtua Fighter™ 5 Final Showdown. The stand-alone downloadable 3D fighting game is set to make its console debut on June 5 for PlayStation®Network and June 6 for Xbox LIVE® Arcade for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown will be priced at $14.99/ £9.99/ AUD$18.25/ €12.99 for PSN and 1,200 Microsoft Points for XBLA.
Character customization DLC packs will be available immediately upon launch for all 19 fighters, with each character customization pack costing $4.99/ £3.59/ AUD$6.25/ €4.49 for PSN and 400 Microsoft Points for XBLA, and will contain 600-950 customization items. Two additional customization packs, consisting of nine characters’ worth of DLC items and the other with 10 characters’ worth, will also be available at launch for $14.99/ £9.99/ AUD$18.25/ €12.99 each on PSN and 1,200 Microsoft Points each on XBLA.

Those unable to attend the invite-only event have an opportunity to be a part of this historic occasion. VFDC will be looking to record and capture as much of this event, but in order to make it as memorable and fun as possible, we need your help!

The Bay Area Cups 3on3 tournaments are unique in that teams made at the beginning of the season remains the same at the end of the season. For past tournament summaries and other information, please check the Virtua Fighter Relationship 2011-2012 Season thread. Those are some of the questions that Gamespot's Editor Maxwell McGee asked various people within the Fighting Game genre to address in his Fighting Game Symposium article series. This includes Patrick Riley, Director of International Product Development, SEGA (Syzygy on VFDC, left) as he answered these questions relative to the Virtua Fighter franchise. Other people that were asked these same questions include Iplaywinner's Haunts, Ultrachen TV's James Chen, and many more!

The Vanessa Off event is expected to start 1 PM JST on May 4. This event is expected to be streamed on Nistel Jacky's Channel. For anybody planning to play Vanessa in VF5FS, this event will likely be highly beneficial to you!

So far, there are 66 teams (330 players) registered for this event. 47 of those teams consist of the same character. All 19 characters have at least one team representing them! The day long event will be divided into Qualifiers (Early/Late), Wildcard, Playoffs, and Final Tournament Stage.

In this third tournament, the top three will receive autographed VF5FS cards from AM2! For more details to this series of events, please check the South Town Arcade VF5FS Tournament Series Thread. According to Frank, expect big announcement on Monday pertaining to the console version.

This is a major international tournament with many guest pro players across all games. For Virtua Fighter two prominent Japanese names will be attending, Fuudo and Itazan (pictured), and are revealed in the latest trailer below!
Australia's best will all be at Shadowloo Showdown to face the challenge of a host of international talent. VFDC's own webmaster and Battle Arena Melbourne 2009-10 Champ Myke will be attending, as will last year's winner AlexMD.
