The VF5FS pre-console tournament series at South Town Arcade (STA) continues! This is the second out of five scheduled tournaments at STA and will be streamed on Iplaywinner, March 30th, 2012. The tournament is expected to start around 7 PM PST.

Scotland's 2012 Hypespotting Event will take place in Glasgow on March 24th to 25th! Due to online voting polls, the original VF5 game was selected as one of the four singles tournaments to be featured in this event. If you could not attend the event, please show your support by watching the online stream at VS Scotland channel! Tentative schedule for the VF portion:

Saturday, March 24th 2PM-3PM GMT
Sunday, March 25th 12PM-1PM GMT

The official VF5FS side tournament at NorCal Regional will take place on March 24-25 in San Francisco, CA. Based on the Saturday Schedule / Sunday Schedule (thanks to 001 for links), VF5FS will be streamed on both days for the:

Top 8 Matches: March 24th, 7:00PM PST - 8:30PM PST
Top 3 Matches: March 25th, 2:30PM - 3:30 PM PST

The second volume of the 2012 Tokyo Bay Area Cup season will be held and streamed on March 25th, 1PM JST on: Newton Live. Team Satani Fantastic Circus (ä½è°·å¤§ã‚µãƒ¼ã‚«ã‚¹) dominated the first volume (159 players) by taking first and second place (Team Members: Kuuchou (KA) / Jin (KA) / Mukki Akira (AK) / Homestay Akira (AK)).

The Bay Area Cups 3on3 tournaments are unique in that teams made at the beginning of the season remains the same at the end of the season. Even though the official major Sega tournaments--Kakutou Shinseiki VI and Battle Audition 4th season--have recently ended, there are plenty of high level tournament events from Japan. This weekend alone there will be three 3on3 Bay Area Cups! With volume 4 of the Kansai Bay Area Cup, there appears to be three teams separating from the rest of the pack - Team Family Gyouza (ファミリー餃å­) / Team Bikkuriman (ビックリマン) / Team Yuunagi Kindgom (夕凪キングダム). This event is expected to be streamed live on the Kansai Bay Channel on March 25th, 2 PM JST tournament start time.

Sega released the second in a series of planned trailers to promote the console release of Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown.

The first trailer featured Makoto Osaki and Daichi Katagiri. Coincidentally, the newest trailer features Chibita, who this past weekend won Kakutou Shinseiki VI - Japan's National VF Tournament. While the video was made before Kakutou Shinseiki VI, there are definitely interesting comments made in the video - including the origins of his nickname and what play style he likes/dislikes. Check the video out and when VF5FS console version is released, play against Chibita himself online!

U.S. East Coast VFers be happy! Sega will be showing off a variety of games at Pax East, including Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown. The 3-day event is located at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center in Massachusetts.

On tonight's episode of VF.TV Live the current PS3 build of VF5FS was demonstrated by Asapon (pictured) and Shinjuku Jacky.

The biggest news was confirmation of a Record and Playback function within Training Mode. In addition to this, and in a great step to help new players into the game, was the ability to practice combos within training mode! Unfortunately, not every available menu was explored in the brief, yet entertaining, demo but I have no doubt that we'll be dining out on these morsels for quite some time.
