On August 25, 2013, the 14th season of VFR had two bay area cup events occurring simultaneously. In the west of Japan, the Kansai Bay Area Cup comes to a dramatic end with their 10th 3on3 event leading to the Climax Series. The Climax Series determines the overall champion of the Kansai Bay Area Cup. In the east of Japan, the 2013 Tokyo Bay Area Cup had its 7th event for the year. Below are links to the video archive of the events and the results (in the spoiler tag)!
Last weekend, August 10th-11th, was NYG8--a gathering for VF enthusiasts at New York City. Below are the links to the videos from Saturday (the singles event) and results from both the singles and teams matches).
- NYG8 Singles Event Playlist (The first 4 videos are the streamed event, while the rest are unstreamed matches)

A tournament isn't considered newsworthy unless it has its own hype trailer. NYG8 just got BIG!
New York Gathering 8 will commence at Next Level Arcade in Brooklyn, NY on August 10 and 11th.
That's right, two full days of Virtua Fighter action! VF5:FS, VF2 and VF4: Final Tuned.
VF4:Final Tuned you ask? Considered by many as the best VF game in all of the series and wasn't even released on console. Yes, we will have a VF4:FT setup running on Naomi 2 hardware via Supergun playing on a projector.

Kingo (Kim Heng Ung) from France and Krye (Wouter Strankinga) from Netherlands are currently two of the strongest VF players in Europe. In the past year, both of them have done very well in online and offline events. From my experiences with the two, both Krye and Kingo have a strong competitive spirit and desire to meet fellow VF enthusiasts. In December 2012, I interviewed both players about their VF experiences with the goal to help promote the World Games at Cannes event in March 2013. Unfortunately, I did not meet that goal. I still wanted to post that interview which I now hope may help promote the Sega Cup Europe event in August 2013. What you have here is two sets of interviews. The “Half a Year Ago…” Interview is from December 2012 and the follow-up interview “…Present Day” is from June 2013.
The fighting game community has never been so big and active throughout the US. Every quarter there is a massive FGC(fighting game community) event showcasing some of the greatest talents in fighting games the world has ever seen. For some it's a chance to see greatness and clutch on a level that we aspire to get to. For others it's a way to showcase your talents and see just where you stack up in terms of time dedicated to your preferred fighter. This is not fact or statement, it is a compilation of feelings and emotions I felt after my time with some FGC events. It's a self check for everyone out there that loves fighting games and is connected to them as a player, spectator, or creator.
