This past weekend, VF veteran LA Akira had a training session with Justin Wong and Floe (professional fighting game players known mostly for their play in 2D games). The video of the session was streamed and archived on twitch. Some of the topics discussed during the offline session, included the importance of [P], fast mid ([6][P]), fuzzy guard, and general frame ranges (fuzzy range, nitaku range and guaranteed damage range). Also briefly touched were character specific common denominators. For example, majority of Jacky's strings on the second hit connect at the high attack level.

For those curious on the progression of Justin Wong in Virtua Fighter or want to see players learning to apply VF fundamentals in versus matches go check out the VF5 with @laakira video!

At 2130 hrs, local Tokyo time, a Virtua Fighter 2 First-to-10 Exhibition battle will take place between Aopai (famous Pai player) and D.K. (director of VF!). This event will be streamed live on Battlecore's Ustream Channel. Don't miss out!

Have you ever wondered what the best throw to use is? Should you do your most damaging throw? Should you mix up your throws? Should you do the weakest throw because no one breaks it?

Fighting games are based on two players making decisions simultaneously. Different choices give different payoffs.

Cool things are afoot in the land of VF... things like Justin Wong and SEGA Cup.

Here's hoping he trains at WNF.

The first seeded 5on5 tournament in the Virtua Fighter Relationship's (VFR) 14th season took place this past weekend (January 13th, 2013). The seeded VFR tournaments give the most valuable player in the winning team a favorable position in the Beat Tribe Cup. The Newton Cup is unique in that it encourages the players to form teams based on the concept of "generations" - common bonds shared between players for a fighting game series in its 20th year. 160 players in 32 teams total participated in this event.

For Evo 2013, 7 games have been named on the official line-up - Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, Super Street Fighter IV, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Street Fighter x Tekken, Mortal Kombat 9, King of Fighters XIII, and Persona 4 Arena. While Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown was not announced as one of the 7 games, it is still possible for it to be in the official Evo game lineup. On the Wake Up Shoryuken stream, MrWizard (An organizer of Evo) mentioned that any game from the previous Facebook poll that had more than 500 votes is eligible (Final Showdown had 800 plus votes). They have tied these games to a donation drive for the Breast Cancer Research Fund. The game with the most donations will be announced as the 8th game
